Anaheim, CA— October 5, 2011 — GMP Labs has been awarded a reference number by the Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) of Canada. The NHPD (Health Canada) is equivalent to the FDA here in the U.S. and is responsible for “ensuring that Canadians have access to natural health products that are safe, effective and of high quality while respecting freedom of choice and philosophical and cultural diversity.”
GMP Laboratories’ acquisition of the NHPD reference number renders the following advantages to its Customers importing products into Canada:
- Eliminate the need for foreign sites to submit the same or similar Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) information to multiple Canadian importers.
- Eliminate the need for NHPD to review and assess the same foreign site GMP evidence provided by multiple Canadian importers.
- Strengthen the timeliness and efficiency of the assessment of the site license applications.
- Enable foreign manufacturers, packagers, and labelers of natural health products to submit directly to the NHPD evidence that their sites meet appropriate GMP standards.
